The Lavender House of Meuse
This is a novel of historical romance fiction taking place in France during World War 1. The main character, Marie Durant Chagall, is a French volunteer Red Cross Nurse injured physically and emotionally during the battle of Verdun. She retreats to an abandoned house in the middle of expansive lavender fields along the Meuse River to recover. The novel is an emotional, intriguing, and sensitive account of the crises of World War 1 and the lives of people struggling to rebuild their lives following the crises of war.
